Amp & Adapter

Editorial policy

The standards every page on this site is held to — independence, sourcing, corrections, and the lines we won't cross.

Independence from commission

Amp & Adapter earns affiliate commissions, and that never decides our rankings. We rank by what’s best for the buyer; where a cheaper product is the better choice, it’s our pick even when a pricier one would pay more. If we ever recommend the higher-commission option, it’s because it’s genuinely better for you, and the reasoning is on the page. Full detail on how we’re funded is on the affiliate-disclosure page.

Sourcing and accuracy

Every factual claim — a spec, a cost figure, a code requirement — traces to a cited source: the manufacturer’s listing for product specs, and government or standards bodies (U.S. Department of Energy, EIA, SAE, EPA ENERGY STAR, AAA) for charging, cost and connector facts. Cost and energy figures state the rate assumed and where it came from. Third-party test results, when we reference them, are attributed to whoever produced them and never presented as our own.

No fabrication

We do not invent specifications, prices, ratings, review counts or testimonials. There are no fake reviews or “in our testing” claims anywhere on this site. Prices render only from a live retailer feed and are dated; when a live price isn’t available the page says “Check price” rather than showing a stale or guessed number. Where a manufacturer doesn’t publish a spec, we print “Not published.”

What we don’t claim

We don’t claim hands-on testing, owned units, a test lab, or credentials our author doesn’t hold. Our author is an EV-charging enthusiast, not a licensed electrician, and nothing on the site is electrical advice. See the methodology page for exactly what we do instead.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Spot a spec, price basis or figure that’s off? Tell us on the contact page. We’ll check it against the source, correct it promptly, and — for a material error — note that the page was updated. Getting it right matters more than looking like we never got it wrong.

Updates and freshness

Prices refresh daily; picks, specs and links are re-verified roughly every 90 days; cost math is refreshed when rates move; and connector and install guidance is updated when standards change. Each page shows a “last updated” date so you know how current it is.
